Missouri's Joplin search for missing after tornado

US officials have revised the number of people thought to be missing after a violent line of thunderstorms and tornados hit Joplin, Missouri. Now less than 240 people are yet to be accounted for. Rescuers have only managed to identify one of the 125 bodies found in the storm's wake Some of the missing from Sunday's disaster may be among the unidentified remains being stored in a hastily constructed mass morgue. Al Jazeera spoke with Angel Fritz, a meteorologist who believes global warming could be fuelling the spate of storms.

Advocate photographer captures Joplin tornado aftermath

Joplin, Missouri, was the site of the most devastating tornado strike in US history. On May 22, 2011, a category EF-5 tornado touched down and killed 138 people, destroying nearly 30 percent of the town. Hospitals, schools and entire neighborhoods were completely wiped out, prompting a visit from President Obama on Memorial Day weekend and an outpouring of national aid and support. Advocate photographer Benjamin Hager visited Joplin shortly after the storm and brought back these haunting images.
